Features to know about

Made for a Clean Front End: Hidden Base Plate with Removable Arms

When you’re not towing, this setup keeps your front end clean and factory-looking. The hidden design means no bulky brackets stick out past the front, and the removable arms twist out quickly when you’re done towing. Receiver covers plug into the sockets to keep dirt and debris out and leave a finished look. No more banging your shins on exposed hardware—just a smooth, streamlined appearance.

Blue Ox base plate kit installed on vehicle front with removable arms attached, showing clean and seamless fit for flat towing setup.

Hook Up Fast Without Hassle: Twist-Lock, Pin-Secure Connection

Attaching the tow arms is quick and foolproof. Slide each arm into its receiver, twist until it locks, then secure it with the pin. When it’s time to disconnect, pull the pin, twist again, and remove the arms. The simple locking motion makes connecting and removing easy, even if you’re setting up solo or in tight spaces.

Built to Take Miles: Steel Construction That Spreads the Load

This base plate bolts directly to the chassis using included mounting hardware—no welding needed. Its sturdy steel design spreads towing force evenly to help prevent stress on your suspension during long hauls. The powder-coated finish fights rust and corrosion, so it holds up through years of travel and weather exposure.

Ready for the Rest of Your Setup: Flexible Tow Bar Compatibility

Pair it with a Blue Ox tow bar for a secure connection that tracks smoothly behind your motorhome. If you’re running Roadmaster or Demco equipment, adapters are available separately to make everything fit together right (RM-031, RM-031-5, DM9523041). Integrated mounting points let you add an electrical connector plug bracket up front so your lighting hookup stays neat and accessible.

DIY-Friendly Install: Straightforward Bolt-On Fit

The kit is designed for a direct bolt-on installation—no fabrication or welding required. Everything lines up to existing chassis points for a solid fit you can handle in your own garage. With clear instructions and included hardware, setting up this base plate is a manageable weekend project that leaves you confident your towing gear is secure and road-ready.

Fast delivery, easy installation, good video instructions online from retailer.

Fits my 2013 mini cooper non turbo. Does take a few hours to install this Fit was good. The hardest part is removing the front bumper and reinstalling it. You do have to cut the lower bumper grill in three places take your time locating the exact spots for cuts. I have pulled Mini Cooper about seven thousand miles now with this Blue Ox and has worked great

I was given a Blue Ox Tow Bar and needed Base Plates for my Ford F150. In my online search, E-Trailer had the best price, so I ordered them. Delivery was a few days earlier than expected. I read the installation instructions and it sounded fairly simple to install, so I decided to tackle it myself. I began it about six pm and had the job completed and cleaned up in just over two hours. The job required removal of the bumper and tow hooks and drilling of two holes. Also William at E-trailer was of great help in the correct parts and keeping me informed of the delivery.

The safety Cable installation left a little to be desired. I'm not sure if I installed it as designed. The cables we're really long enough to go aroiund the frame rails on our Jeep, under the Radiator mount, Aluminum Frame, I was only able to go around the Raditor mount on both sides. Didn't really seam like it was the right way, but I suspect it's only for if something comes loose that there isn't a catastrophic breakaway.

After installing over 500 baseplates on various vehicles, this one was probably the toughest one . It had the off road package on it . But it fit great after I had to remove a lot that had been bolted up for 27yrs.

This was instilled on a 2024 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 truck. I watched your video online with this exact model truck and the words I remember most was “and we did not have to do any trimming”. Well my truck was certainly different than what was on video. Guess it’s because it’s a late build 2024 (end of September 2024) and the grill system was maybe what would appear on the 2025 models? There was lots of trimming involved. I also will tell you the mounting holes both for the frame and the bumper back plate did not line up and required some modifications to fit. I would like to say this job is not for the faint of heart. I luckily have a mechanical/machinist background so was able to get the job done. Have not tested it yet but will be soon. Good luck to those of you who are planning on installing it yourself. Just remember it can be done. Just take your time.

Perfect fit! The only issue I encountered was drilling the upper anchor hole on the driver's side. It's not in the instructions, but I decided to remove the windshield washer fluid reservoir and headlight to drill without damaging it.
This was very easy to do, and I am very pleased with your product!! I would definitely recommend Blue Ox to anyone looking to tow behind your motorhome!

So here is an honest review of the Blue Ox base plate. I ordered this base plate because I already have a Blue Ox tow bar. After watching the video of the Ford Fiesta install it didn't look too bad. In the video of the guy suggest ordering a different brand and after the install I understand why. Taking apart the front end of the car is easy the problem lies in the way Blue Ox decided to use welded nuts on bendable rods it is very difficult to get these aligned after drilling the holes. My advice for anyone who's going to do this is be prepared and have patience. After removing the headlights in front fascia cut out the edges of the plastic as noted in the video and then Mount the bar measure the half inch gap on one side and put a clamp on it. Here's where it gets annoying instead of just putting holes in it using a drill bit that would be in any 10 to 15 piece drill index they decided to use a 13/32 bit which you will only find in large quantity indexes. Here's what I found makes this job easier after drilling the first two holes in the base plate install the top bolt only and then tighten it down if you do both you're going to have two wires hindering your movement when you go to do the rear plates. Same thing when drilling the hole in the rear plate put the top bolt in first and this leaves you more room to work with. Prepare to be frustrated the system they use was not thought out very well there was plenty of room to drill all the way through to the other side of the frame and use a through bolt to simplify this whole process. It probably would have cost him a few more dollars to get larger bolts whatever the reason was this system of nuts welded the wires is nothing but a headache. Once you get past this point and it's time to install the safety cables in the video it shows him just wrapping around the rear side of the backing frame the cables in this kit are far too long to be of any use if the front bumper disconnects the way the cables are routed they can slip around the Mainframe there's enough slack that you can actually wrap it around the inside of the base plate mounting attachments to take up the slack. Other than the method of installing this the bar itself is well built. Getting the bumper put back on and cut out for the attachment points is tricky to say the least I ended up cutting out a little bit too much of the grill but I may just order another Grill now that I know exactly where it ends up when it's fully mounted. I would imagine it cost quite a bit to have one of these installed as what could be a straightforward install takes several extra hours of fighting alignment of the nuts on a wire system. Want thank e-trailer as they have the best price and it was shipped in a timely manner.

The Blue Ox base plate for my 2015 Kia Soul is well manufactured and, with a little bit of mechanical skill, easy to install. It fit perfectly without issues. Brad from etrailer provides a step-by-step installation video that is outstanding and nicely guides through the process from beginning to end. I highly recommend this Blue Ox base plate from etrailer.

Super high quality baseplate for towing by Blue Ox. Instructions, videos, shipping (one day!) and overall experience was awesome. A bit pricey but their quality and the additional support by E Trailer cannot be beat! BTW (E Trailer) the baseplate fits three different Jeep configurations but did not call out the Recon package. After looking at other brands which showed there's to fit the 3 variations AND the Recon, I figured it would fit and it DID. You should definitely upgrade to include the Recon Edition.

lways great to shop at etrailer, especially the tech experts. Royce did an awesome job with our order. Everything fit perfectly and the help video provided the guidance I needed.

We installed the baseplate on our 2023 Encore GX AWD as well as the light harness and breakaway switch. A couple of items were incorrect but Royce corrected the issues with no problems.

Thanks again etrailer!

2019 Ford Ranger baseplate worked and fitted fine for me. 73 yrs old took me a couple hours but took many breaks. Younger could do it less than hour I'm sure.
Also works fine with my Blue Ox tow bar.

Justin was very nice and helpful over the phone, no pictures yet because it's kind of cold in Massachusetts so I will have to wait until it's a little warmer. I will install it myself. This will be the fifth vehicle I've done this on, just follow the directions.

Order processed and shipped within a couple hours, received it next day even though estimate was for 5 days later. Excellent easy to follow instructions were included, install was completed within a couple hours with standard tools.

This is a top quality base plate. Very sturdy and secure. I was able to install it myself with a little help from my wife., The instructions are easy to follow and I used YouTube to help with the step by step removal of our 2010 Ford Edge bumper, lights and grill. If I can do it, anyone can.

by:

Easy to talk to.

by:

Our fireplace was installed yesterday. Looks great and is working well. Thank you etrailer for for all your help with the order and shipping.

Poor alignment of bolt holes on my 08 Ford Edge, both side. Required a lot of work to shape alignment to get interior bolts to go through. It's not cheaply made. It's substantial. No doubt it will handle the load. Just wish it aligned better. If I wasn't committed to a Blue Ox Tow Bar, I'd probably have sent it back and went with a different brand/different bolt on design.

  • Can All Wheel Drive 2008 Ford Edge Be Flat Towed
You can flat tow the 2008 Ford Edge All Wheel Drive behind your motorhome according to page 230 of the online owner's manual. You cannot tow this version on a dolly with the front wheels off the ground as this would damage the AWD transmission. Here are the specific preparation steps required to ready the AWD Edge for flat towing: Tow only in the forward direction. Release the parking brake. Place the transmission shift lever in Neutral (N). Turn the key in the ignition to the ACC position...

  • Parts Needed For Flat Towing 2010 Ford Edge AWD Behind A 2022 Coachmen Leprechaun Class C Motorhome
Your 2010 Ford Edge AWD must be flat towed or towed on a trailer, it cannot be dolly towed. You will need a Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX2190 to connect to the front of your Edge. This will allow you to flat tow your Edge with the Blue Ox Alpha 2 Non-Binding Tow Bar # BX7380. You may need a high-low adapter like the Roadmaster # RM-048-4 as you need to keep the bars within 3" of level between your Edge and 2022 Coachmen Leprechaun. You will need the Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit...

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2009 Ford Edge AWD
Between all three setups you really only have two components that have to match between brands with the tow bars and base plate kits. So with the Blue Ox base plate kit part # BX2190 that fits your 2009 Ford Edge you'd need a Blue Ox tow bar like # BX7420. With the Roadmaster # 4408-1 you'd need the tow bar # RM-520, and Demco # DM9519210 you'd need the # DM9511012. I really like the Blue Ox setups as they are really well-made and easiest to use. For lighting you can use the diode kit,...

  • Can 2008 Ford Edge Front Wheel Drive be Flat Towed
I checked the owners manual of your 2008 Ford Edge and the front wheel drive versions can be flat towed. The Blue Ox base plate # BX2190 that you referenced is a fit for your vehicle and overall is the easiest to use so it's a really great choice. For a tow bar the Avail part # BX7420 is a really great choice that allows the tow vehicle to track well behind the vehicle and also is easy to use as well. For lighting we have the Roadmaster diode kit part # RM-152-98146-7 which comes with...

  • Will Blue Ox Base Plates from a 2009 Ford Edge Fit a 2012 Ford Edge
The Blue Ox Base Plates for the 2008 Ford Edge, # BX2190, will not fit the 2012 Ford Edge. You will need base plates # BX2628 that you referenced instead. The good news is that some of the tow bars will fit both so if you have the Blue Ox Acclaim, Adventurer, Aventa, Aladdin, or Allure tow bar it will work with the new base plates. You will need a new wiring system as well. I have included a link to the available options for you to view. I have also included a link to our FAQ articles...
